Damien R. Todor – author of novels about love, faith and destiny

A novel of love, faith, destiny, and a world approaching its darkest hour.

When the world begins to fall apart, love becomes more than a feeling.
It becomes a choice. Faith becomes a refuge. And destiny begins to reveal its path.

A love that survives distance, fear, and destiny.

When everything is lost, faith becomes the path.

A world standing on the edge of darkness.

Two souls. One forbidden love. A world moving toward darkness.
Between the noise of the modern world and the silence of ancient monasteries, their paths will lead them toward a truth greater than themselves.

Some paths are chosen. Others choose us.

In a world moving toward darkness, a young man begins a new life in a new city — unaware that he is stepping into a story far greater than himself.

There he encounters a love capable of changing everything. But beyond the ordinary world, ancient forces are awakening. Secret societies move in the shadows, mysterious spiritual elders speak of what is coming, and humanity draws ever closer to the edge of catastrophe.

Between love and sacrifice, faith and fear, the modern world and the silence of ancient monasteries, two lives become bound to a destiny neither of them could have imagined.

Love. Faith. Destiny. When the world approaches its darkest hour…

Some stories begin with a meeting. Others begin long before two people ever know their paths are destined to cross.

Night descended quietly over the long, deserted streets. Lightning tore across the leaden sky, heralding the rain that was soon to come. Only the wind disturbed the silence, singing a song known to no one but itself. The first heavy drops began to fall upon the sleeping city.

Another long, long night.

John stood by the window, watching the restless weather outside. He loved the rain. A cigarette appeared almost instinctively between his fingers. He hated the things, yet somehow he could never quite give them up. Drawing the smoke deep into his lungs, he thought about his life.

Only a few months earlier, it had been much like the lives of everyone else his age. Nothing extraordinary, perhaps, but he had been content with what it offered him.

And now?

A new city. New people. A new school.

How many more times? How much longer can I keep doing this?

His thoughts returned to long walks beside the Danube, to warm nights scented with linden blossom—and to her.

The only girl who had ever truly mattered.

She had never understood. He had begged her to stay, told her he wasn’t moving to the other side of the world, but nothing had changed her mind. On that final, sorrowful night, he had watched her auburn hair disappear around the corner of a quiet street.

He had been holding a red rose meant only for her—the girl of his dreams, the angel of his youth.

In his imagination, he had flown beyond the clouds for her and pulled stars from the heavens. None of it had been enough. She disappeared around that nameless corner and took a part of his world with her, leaving his dreams to crumble into dust.

Would he ever meet anyone like her again?

All that remained was the ache behind his eyes, a hidden tear, a final goodbye, and the words neither of them had wanted to say:

Maybe we simply weren’t meant to be.
